Caring for our RagdollsComing Soon..... Feeding our Cats:It is important to us that our cats receive the best care from their food, that they live a healthy life, and our kittens develop into strong cats with great immune systems. Since each and every one of our cats has their individual needs, we usually end up feeding mixes of certain brands to our ragdolls cats and kittens. The most important part of feeding a cat is that they are being fed nutritiously. We find that foods with the highest amounts of protein and fat are the better foods. It is our view that many cats are getting diabetes these days from the overuse of dry foods with too many carbohydrates! We have went through multiple trial and error processes of finding what brands our cats prefer, and what keeps them in the best condition and provides us with healthy and very beautiful Ragdolls. We have found Purina Products to be among our favorites. It's important to note just because some foods are expensive, they are not necessarily better for your cats. All of our cats are fed the kitten specialty food as they have a higher protein and fat content than the adult foods (which have more carbs). Our cats are allowed to free-feed on dry food throughout the day, and are given canned food in the mornings. Some of our cats are also given Nupro Health Nuggets as a supplement (contains raw vitamins, minerals, enzymes, and amino/fatty acids).
Vaccinations:We have started doing our own vaccines on our kittens and breeding cats. We have been using the Heska Ultranasal vaccines (FVR-C & FVR-CP), we believe that this provides optimal immunity to many cat viruses and illnesses that run through catteries, especially those who don't vaccinate intranasally. Since these vaccines are given through the nose, it's a lot easier on the cats and ourselves. Each kitten that leaves our cattery is given two doses of the Heska FVR-CP Ultranasal vaccine. We also follow the "early vaccination protocol" many breeders have been doing to prevent many URI's (Upper Respiratory Infections) that are very common in multi-cat household. In the last few years many veterinarians have moved over from the injectable (needle) vaccines to the intranasal vaccines because they have shown to be very effective. We encourage you to read more about intranasal vaccines below.
